BESTThe scenery is really pretty. However, the chair is a bit uncomfortable, but it's not a long trip, so it's worth riding. Maybe it's because Japan has a similar sentiment to us, so it's the fall foliage season, so there are a lot of seniors group tours, children's school trips, and overseas travelers like me, so on-site reservations are made. If you do, you may have to wait an hour and get on the train an hour later, so I recommend you to buy it and go.

Saga Torokko Train
The Kyoto Sagano Romantic Train is a sightseeing train that runs on the old Sanin Main Line tracks after the electrification of the JR Sanin Main Line. The train, with its red body and gold and black patterns, travels 7.3 km between Saga Station and Kameoka Station in about 25 minutes, allowing you to see the beauty of each season.
You can ride a local train and look out the window at the autumn leaves and river. The experience of riding a train and seeing the beautiful scenery change with the seasons is something that can only be experienced on a Torokko train, and it is one of the reasons why not only Japanese locals but also travelers from all over the world flock to Kyoto with the changing seasons.
Since the Torokko train is available on a first-come, first-served basis, you must make a reservation in advance to travel without worrying about boarding.
How to get to the Torokko train
The Kyoto Sagano Romantic Train can be boarded at Kameoka, Hozukyo, Arashiyama, and Saga Stations. This product is a 25-minute train ride from Saga Station to Kameoka.
1. When departing from Kyoto Station:
From Kyoto Station, take the JR Sagano Line to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station - Go to the South Exit (approximately 17 minutes)
2. When departing from Shijo and Karasuma:
From Kyoto Municipal Subway Shijo Station to Kyoto Station, transfer to JR Sagano Line - Go to South Exit (approximately 20 minutes)

From Saga Station to Kameoka
This train is a downward train from Saga to Kameoka Station. It is even better because you can get off at Arashiyama in the middle and spend some leisurely time! It is also good even if you just run. You can see a pretty view, and you can see Arashiyama from the train, so it is really popular.
* Please note that although you can get off the Torokko train midway within the designated section, re-boarding is not allowed.

What to Remember
- Each passenger over 6 years of age can accommodate one infant or child on their lap (free of charge)
- You must pay the child fare for the second infant or toddler, or if you wish to reserve a seat.
- Infants are between 1 and 6 years old, and infants are under 1 year old (free of charge).

- All vehicles have reserved seats and smoking is prohibited. Due to its high popularity, if you make a reservation with a group of people, you may not be able to reserve seats adjacent to each other.
- When presenting an E-ticket, screenshots cannot be presented or used.
- Car No. 5 (Rich Ho) is an open carriage with no windows, so it may get wet in rainy weather, and umbrellas are not allowed inside the carriage.
- The stroller can be folded and used.
- You cannot ride a bicycle.
- All cars on the Sagano Torokko train have reserved seating, and smoking is prohibited in all cars.
- Please understand that your ticket will be invalid after stopping midway.
- After the reservation is confirmed, the designated boarding date and departure time cannot be changed. Seat changes are possible up to 2 days before the participation date. Seat changes are allowed up to 2 times.
- You can ride as long as you place your pet in a cage (less than 70cm in length, with a total of about 90cm in width, height, and length, and the combined weight of the cage and pet is within 10kg), and make sure that the face or body is not exposed at all. (Separately paid belongings required) A fee of 260 yen will be charged and payment will be made on site)
- If there are empty seats, you can cancel the reserved seat and change the seat.
