BESTWe went on a tour with 8 people and met a guide who was really good at driving! The route was pretty and well taken care of, and I thought it was expensive, but considering the driving time, entrance fee, and lunch, it seemed like a reasonable price.
Starting from Auckland, we'll introduce you to two of New Zealand's most famous attractions.
Enjoy a tour of Hobbiton and Waitomo Caves in one day. You can see the Waitomo Caves illuminated by countless glowworms and feel their beauty. I also recommend walking around the Hobbiton movie set, which is a realistic set built for the filming of The Lord of the Rings, as you can feel the emotion of the movie again while looking at the Hobbit hole, the Green Dragon Inn, etc.
movie set,
To the glowworm cave
If you are planning a trip to New Zealand, join a small group tour to the Hobbiton filming location, Waitomo Caves, for a day, which is a must-visit destination. For added convenience, you will be picked up from your Auckland city center hotel.
You can go into the Shire region, the setting of The Lord of the Rings, and experience the movie stage for yourself. Enjoy the romance of glowworms across the water at the world-famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. It is also an opportunity to enjoy the natural scenery seen during the trip and listen to the guide's detailed commentary.
Relaxing on the Hauraki Plains
After pickup from your central Auckland hotel, head south over the Bombay Hills for panoramic views of the Waikato region and the beautiful Hauraki Plains. When you arrive at The Shire's Rest in Matamata, home to the Hobbit movie sets, your guide will guide you through the expansive grounds and tell fascinating stories about how the Hobbit movie sets were built. And try a complimentary specially made drink at Green Dragon Inn. We'll have a light lunch and talk about Hobbiton along the way.
With magical fireflies
Take a boat ride through the world-famous caves and see magical glowworms. The return journey takes you through some of New Zealand's most beautiful countryside and along the majestic Waikato River north to Auckland. Finish by passing Taupiri, home to a very sacred Maori cemetery.
