Barcelona Zoo is located in Ciutadella Park and places the welfare and protection of animals as its top priority. The Barcelona Zoo is operated directly by the city after Lluis Marti donated it to the city. It covers an area of 130,000 square meters and is home to more than 4,000 animals of 400 species. In particular, the African Garden was created for the first time in Barcelona, where giraffes, hippopotamuses, rhinos, and zebras are fed, and a deep ditch is used to demarcate it.
