of various eras
Meet the kimono!
Visit the Ome Kimono Museum, which houses over 500 historical kimonos and materials, including costumes of lords, court nobles, and imperial family members of the Edo period! Kimonos are a traditional cultural asset of Japan, but there are few museums in Japan that specialize in exhibiting kimonos, so you can enjoy them in a new way. Many of the precious costumes are so rare that they are sometimes displayed in special exhibitions. The exhibition room is located in a renovated warehouse that was used about 160 years ago, and displays imperial costumes, costumes worn by Edo period samurai and merchants, and Edo period bride costumes!
A must-see!
Even if you miss everything else, come see this! as soon as! The costume worn by Crown Prince Nashimoto during the coronation ceremony can be seen in the permanent exhibition, as well as materials donated by former Crown Prince Minoru Hamao. I definitely recommend seeing this!
