Become a player at Petco Park
Petco Park in San Diego, California, USA, is an American baseball stadium that has been used by the San Diego Padres since its opening in 2004. When you visit here, you can feel like you are a major league player, including the major league dugout, press box, and visitor clubhouse that are not open to the public, as well as the Hall of Fame, where you can learn about the history of the Padres, and tour the field.
This behind-the-scenes, historic tour led by a tour guide will give you a unique experience at the ballpark while you learn about the history of Petco Park and the San Diego Padres.
Here's how to get there
Petco Park is ideally located at the hub of San Diego County's public transportation network, making it convenient to take the trolley, coaster, or bus to the ballpark area.
Three trolley stations are located within two blocks of the stadium: 12th & Imperial, Park & Market, and Gaslamp Quarter (at 5th Avenue and Harbor Drive). Fans can use the MTS’ free Park & Ride lot along the MTS trolley , which also has an express route that provides easy access to Petco Park. Click here to see the MTS trolley route.
Would you like to take a look around?
Meet your guide at Petco Park for a behind-the-scenes tour and a visit to the press box, also known as Writer’s Row. Imagine yourself as a reporter with a panoramic view of the stadium.
Take a peek inside the Home Plate Club, walk on the field and warning track, sit in the dugout, experience everything new and take pictures! This tour is special and fun because you can experience the ballpark while learning about its history.
What if it somehow looks familiar?
This stadium may be quite familiar to Korean baseball fans. Chan Ho Park often pitched away games against San Diego when he was with the Dodgers, and he also played for the Padres for a while in the latter half of his career.
It was also the stadium where the Korean national team performed well in the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classics, and was considered a baseball mecca along with the Beijing Olympics Wukesong Stadium. In the 2015 season, the longest home run in this stadium (450 ft) was recorded, and in the 2016 season, Dae-ho Lee hit a home run here, and in the 2017 season, Shin-soo Choo hit a home run here. Hyun-jin Ryu has a very good away record at Petco Park. And Ha-seong Kim is playing here for the San Diego Padres.
