Tour Highlights
1. Arashiyama's Sagano Torokko Train
The Sagano Torokko train was originally a small freight train used to transport goods. Now, most of them are used as tourist trains, and the Sagano Torokko Train is one of them. The biggest feature of the Sagano Torokko Train is that the tracks are laid along the Hozu River. You can enjoy the beauty of the four seasons and the valley scenery to your heart’s content as you run along the precarious cliffs. Another charm is the classic, retro colors. The five-car Art Deco-style passenger cars are equipped with wooden seats and shadeless incandescent light bulbs, making you feel like you’ve traveled back in time.
Car No. 5 is an open car with no windows called the “Rich-ho,” which is very popular because you can feel the warm sunlight, cool breeze, and the weather of the day on your skin. If you see a boat enjoying the Hozu River rafting that we will experience soon while riding the train, be sure to wave! The passengers who boarded earlier will also wave back to you.
2. Extreme Hozugawa River Boat Ride!
The Hozugawa River, which flows 16km along the mountain range to Arashiyama, is one of Kyoto's most scenic spots and was once an important waterway used to transport timber by boat. Today, visitors can enjoy a two-hour boat ride here and enjoy the beautiful natural scenery.
You can enjoy the huge rocks and fantastic rock formations, cherry blossoms in spring, green scenery in summer, and autumn leaves in fall, as well as deep pools, rapids, and the thrill of mountains and rivers that change every moment, all on a boat operated by 3 to 5 experienced experts!
