Take a one-day bus tour
500 years of history and tradition of Joseon
Explore the 500-year history of Joseon Dynasty life all in one day on a bus tour!
From the Korean Folk Village, where you can learn about how people from various social classes lived during the Joseon Dynasty, the shapes of houses, the furniture used along with them, and fun performances, the story of Hwaseong, which formed the framework of Suwon from the reign of King Jeongjo to the present, and the only building created by the king. We have organized an enriching course that includes Suwon Nammun Market, a paradise for food and sightseeing, which means market.
This weekend, how about a Gyeonggi tour that is like a bundle of gifts prepared with everything from historical significance to the pleasure of seeing, walking, and eating?
Lots of fun things to do at the Korean Folk Village
full of smiles
The Korean Folk Village opened in 1974 and has established itself as the best exhibition hall in Korea where you can see life during the Joseon Dynasty. Because of its clear educational advantages, it is a popular tourist destination for school trips and field trips. Not only houses, but also agricultural tools and other household items and crafts are on display, including government houses where officials lived, noble houses where noblemen lived, and private houses, which were the most common form of residence. It will not be difficult to imagine how our ancestors lived in the space.
The various performances held at different times are also attractions that cannot be missed! The Korean Folk Village's pride is its witty and humorous performances that immerse the audience in the beauty of Korean traditional art. There are a variety of performances prepared to overturn the prejudice that traditional things are boring, so we highly recommend taking the time to enjoy the performances!
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, a castle built with science and philosophy
Hwaseong Fortress, the skeleton of Suwon that boasts its majesty as it was 200 years ago, is prepared as the second course.
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress has been preserved almost in its original form when it was first built, and the main surrounding environment has also remained the same to this day, serving as the heart of Suwon. Centuries-old buildings form the core of the modern city center, allowing visitors to fully feel Korea's heritage living in modern times.
Suwon Hwaseong Fortress contains all of King Jeongjo's filial love for his father Crown Prince Sado, his political ambitions, and the science and technology that gave birth to new technologies such as geojungi. It is recognized culturally enough to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but its grandeur is even more special because it contains the central values, ideas, philosophy, and delicate scientific technology that Korean society has considered important for generations.
It boasts beautiful scenery along the lake, making it the perfect course to enjoy a leisurely walk. How about walking along the fortress road to Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion and Janganmun Gate, which are loved as photo spots by many people, and Hwaseong Temporary Palace, which is said to be the most beautiful of the palaces?
With 9 markets gathered together, there are 9 times more things to see!
When you start to feel hungry during your trip, enjoy some gourmet food at Nammun Market!
Nammun Market is made up of nine markets near Paldalmun Gate, the southern gate of Hwaseong, and is the largest in Gyeonggi-do. You won't notice the passage of time as you taste and explore the unique features of each of the nine markets. I can already smell the delicious smell of hotteok, various fried foods, donuts, and bread!
It is also a meaningful place as a market built by King Jeongjo himself during the time when Hwaseong Temporary Palace was being built. Isn't it really special that it is the only marketplace in history created by a king?
