Located in Malacca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum is the actual residence of the Chan family for four generations. The museum’s name is derived from the term ‘Baba’, a respectful title for a Straits-born gentleman, and ‘Nyonya’, a term for a Straits-born woman. Take a walk through the house of Baba Chan Cheng Siew (1865-1919) and learn about Peranakan identity, culture, and Malaysian history!

The Baba and Nyonya Heritage Museum is housed in the former residence of the Chan family, Baba Chan Cheng Siew, which spanned four generations since 1861. By exploring this former residence, you can get a glimpse into the rich and extravagant culture that was prevalent in many Peranakan households before World War II.
The Chan family seeks to connect Peranakan identity and culture with Malaysian history through this museum. Visit the museum and take a journey back to Malaysia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and discover the spirit of the nation!

Baba Nyonya refers to the descendants of Chinese men and Malay women. Baba Nyonya culture is a unique blend of Chinese and Malay traditions, and has had a great influence on Malaysian society. Take a tour of the Baba Nyonya houses, which are decorated with colorful and elaborate decorations, and see antique furniture and Enjoy exhibits of daily necessities , a unique architectural style that combines Chinese and Western styles, and the food, clothing, shelter, art, and social life of the Baba Nyonyas.
User Guide
The Baba and Nyonya Cultural Heritage Museum is available as a single ticket. Children aged 12 and above are eligible for an adult ticket, while children aged 6 to 11 are eligible for a child ticket. Children aged 5 and below are eligible for free entry when accompanied by an adult.
