Arlington National Cemetery Tram Tour
The Arlington National Cemetery Tram Tour is a great way to learn about the lives of those who served our country, as well as Washington’s history and the growth of the United States. Explore more than 600 acres of sacred grounds once owned by George Washington Parks Curtis, George Washington’s adopted son. In 1857, the cemetery was used for a variety of purposes, including as a camp and headquarters for Union troops during the American Civil War and as a resting place for slaves seeking freedom after emancipation. The first military burial took place on May 13, 1864, and Arlington National Cemetery is now the final resting place for more than 400,000 active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. Visit three sites to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country, and enjoy a comfortable tram ride throughout the cemetery.
