Inside the Bois de Boulogne,
Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum of Art
When traveling in Europe, even people who are not interested in art often visit art museums. Of course, other than the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay, we introduce museums that you might be really interested in. This is the Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum! The Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum, which opened in 2014, is located in the Bois de Boulogne.
Although it is a bit far from the city center, it is a large fashion company, so you can see many good exhibitions and works through collaboration with famous art museums around the world.
Architectural design worthy of its reputation,
Excellent collection
Take a look at the gallery of the Louis Vuitton Foundation designed by Frank Gehry! Bernard Arnault, the founder of Louis Vuitton, wanted to provide Paris with an amazing space for art and culture, and the resulting building is the Louis Vuitton Foundation. Filled with natural light and a building that makes you feel like you're on a boat, this is a great place to view masterpieces. In particular, when you enter the two-story glass building, you can explore temporary exhibitions showcasing Gehry's bold designs as well as modern and contemporary art.
Who is Frank Gehry?
Frank Gehry, well-known as a deconstructivist architect, is characterized by post-formalism, which uses a unique and innovative style that is not limited to general frameworks, and collage, which combines fragmented pieces and reconstructs them into new images. It is also famous for its curved shapes and use of metal materials in its architectural works.
The Louis Vuitton Foundation building is similarly composed of curved and fluid forms, and is surrounded by glass, designed to allow abundant natural light inside the building. Filled with natural light, it is a great place to view masterpieces.
Take a closer look at the features
Combination of glass and steel: The building is made of steel and glass, giving it a modern and open feel. The 3,600 glass panels on the exterior walls of the building are tightly combined to create a breathtakingly beautiful view. Because of the transparent glass walls, the building disappears into the forest at night and reappears when it is illuminated in the morning.
Element of water: There are small ponds and elements of flowing water around the building, emphasizing harmony with nature.
Various spaces: The Louis Vuitton Foundation is used as a space for various art and cultural events. Inside, there is a gallery, concert hall, and multi-purpose space where various art events and exhibitions are held.
Keep an eye out for these features when you visit. These characteristics make the Louis Vuitton Foundation a center of culture and art in France, and the building itself is a work of art.
Travel comfortably by shuttle bus
The Louis Vuitton Foundation shuttle bus departs from exit 2 of "Charles-de-Gaulle Etoile" near the Place Charles de Gaulle metro station. During operating hours, departures occur every 15 to 20 minutes. When the Louis Vuitton Foundation closes, the last shuttle bus leaves the foundation 7 minutes later. Just show your mobile voucher to the driver and board.
On nice days, I enjoy a picnic.
You are not allowed to bring in food, but on days when the weather is nice, you can bring snacks and serve them on the terrace. You can also purchase coffee or hot chocolate. Also, next to the museum is the large Acclimatation Park. You have to pay an admission fee when entering through the main gate, but visitors to the Louis Vuitton Foundation can enter for free, so I definitely recommend stopping by.
Use the VIP priority entrance.
Priority access to all temporary exhibitions or security checks and permanent collections. A faster way to tour the Louis Vuitton Foundation, which has many visitors! Scan your mobile voucher at the dedicated premium entrance at the main entrance and go through security screening first.
