🙌 You can enjoy the kaiseki restaurant 'Kinmata' with 200 years of history by making a reservation for the date and time without having to speak Japanese.
A taste that doesn't change for a long time,
Kinmata Kaiseki
Kinmata is a typical machiya from the Meiji period in Kyoto. Machiya means a building with several shops and houses connected by a main street. The restaurant was designated as a tangible cultural heritage of Kyoto in 2001. In the center of the building is an elegant and unique Japanese courtyard that is characteristic of Kyoto, and the interior decoration is also full of artistic atmosphere. The antique wooden furniture, tables, and chairs create a quiet atmosphere. Those looking for a restaurant with a traditional Japanese atmosphere will definitely be satisfied.
The current chef is a master of Kyoto vegetable cuisine, so the set menu features delicious Kyoto vegetable dishes made with seasonal vegetables. The chef also visits Nishiki Market, known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen,” to carefully select high-quality ingredients every day. The fish ingredients are also fresh fish carefully selected from the Sea of Japan, the Seto Inland Sea, and the Pacific Ocean. The dining utensils in the restaurant are also very elaborate. All the ceramics used in the restaurant are elaborate works of art made by Kyo-yaki, Imari-yaki, and Kutani-yaki.
A taste of well-prepared Japan
Kinmata's kaiseki cuisine uses only the freshest seasonal ingredients carefully selected by the chef, and is full of dishes that bring out the natural flavors of the freshest, yet least spicy ingredients.
