Taking place at the Tang Long Theatre,
Water puppet show
Learn about Vietnamese art by watching a puppet show with great cultural significance. The tradition of water puppetry is said to have originated in the past when rice fields were flooded, and villagers would stand in water up to their waists to perform and enjoy the puppet show. Enjoy the magical singing of water puppets accompanied by traditional Vietnamese instruments such as the Erhu, Flute, Zither, and Cheo songs. Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre performances have impressed audiences from all over the world, from Asia to Europe, the United States, and Australia, and are famous enough to attract audiences from more than 40 countries.
Reasons to see a water puppet show
Hanoi Water Puppetry is a Vietnamese performance with a long tradition that began in the 11th century. It is a unique stage set up on a pond, and puppeteers use sticks and strings to manipulate the puppets, presenting vivid performances. The stories told are so touching that I highly recommend watching it.
